African ecology: Tanzania
Location: Keda Field Centre at Njia’panda, near Mount Kilimanjaro
Summer 2017 was the first time that this course ran, located at the Keda Field Centre at Njia’panda, overshadowed by Mount Kilimanjaro. The centre was established by the University of Sheffield and supports development projects in one of the world’s most bio-diverse regions, where humans first evolved.
More than 400 bird species are found here, in an area smaller than Birmingham. On this course, you'll learn how people and the environment influence where species occur as well as population sizes. The trip includes bird and plant surveys, and a day is be spent on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro.
