My MSc gave me the chance to do my research project at the prestigious Centre of Stem Cell Biology, at the University of Sheffield
“I applied for the MSc in Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine here at the University of Sheffield as this was one of the few MSc courses in the UK which included both stem cell biology and regenerative medicine areas, matching my interests.
“Visiting the University, I was very impressed with Firth Court and the atmosphere there and had a great chat with Professor Winder about the course. Moreover, being offered a Merit Postgraduate Scholarship to study here, convinced me that this would be the perfect place for me.
I have enjoyed everything about the course to date, particularly the Ethics and Public Awareness course as it gave me a different perspective on research, with very interactive and unique assessment methods (group debates and posters on hot topics in research).

MSc Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine
“I have enjoyed everything about the course to date, particularly the Ethics and Public Awareness course as it gave me a different perspective on research, with very interactive and unique assessment methods (group debates and posters on hot topics in research). Sheffield is one of the centres of excellence providing specialised training in stem cell biology worldwide so I am looking forward to starting the Human Embryonic Stem Cell Techniques module this semester, a module specifically tailored for the students on my course.
“With over 70 research projects to choose from, I am doing my project in the prestigious Centre of Stem Cell Biology, supervised by Professor Marcelo Rivolta. My work involves characterising otic progenitors derived from human embryonic stem cells, using different approaches.
“I’m passionate about getting involved within the student body. Having a diverse experience from my undergraduate university as International Students Officer, Member of the Students Union Council, Student Ambassador and involvement in volunteering, societies and sport, I was elected to be the Postgraduate Faculty Representative of my department here at Sheffield. I enjoy this role very much as I can use my skills to enhance student experience and promote student views. I enjoy very much working in the laboratory and I would like to build on my knowledge and skills by continuing my career with doctoral studies.”
