Postgraduate Study in the School of English

Overview

The School of English's research environment (REF 2014) has been judged to be the best for English in the country (1st out of 89 departments; with a combined score of 4* in 90% and 3* in 10% of our activities). This result means that our School offers outstanding support for postgraduates to work closely and successfully to pursue research and scholarship across the field of English studies.

We combine world-leading teaching and supervision with top-class facilities and support for all our postgraduate students.

Taught postgraduate courses can be followed either full-time (for one year) or part-time (over two years) and most involve a combination of core and optional modules, research training, and a dissertation or extended research project.
