As Placements Officer in the Management School, I support undergraduate students to understand your work experience options. Most of the support I offer revolves around an optional placement year that you can to your degree if you are studying a three year course. You'll be introduced to what short-term internships or year-long placements can offer you in your first year, and it's never too early to come and chat to my colleagues and I in the Employability Team. In second year, you can register your interest in a placement year to receive tailored advice from myself as well as signing up to have a peer mentor. Having just returned from their placement year, the peer mentors are in a fantastic position to give you tips about specific employers, industries or roles. If you choose to undertake a placement year, my colleague Lily and I will keep in touch with you and check that you are getting everything that you want out of your experience.
I hope you are excited about becoming part of the University of Sheffield. Make the most of everything this city and its people have to offer. I look forward to meeting you and helping you navigate your work experience options!
