Prospective International Students

As an internationally renowned centre of excellence in our field we warmly welcome applications from international students who bring a diverse wealth of experience and knowledge to us. We've a number of international students at undergraduate and postgraduate level and because of the high value the department places on its international students we provide a structured programme of support for your studies. This includes workshops on study skills and small-group English language teaching through all years of study.

At the Department of Urban Studies and Planning you'll be taught by experts. We'll nurture your passion for your subject and show you how to use what you learn. Employers around the world know that a qualification from Sheffield is a good investment - the mark of someone they can trust. In addition to the support you will receive from the department we also have a dedicated International Teaching Associate.

International Research

Our research has a strong international focus including work in Egypt, South Africa, India, Norway, France, Canada, Australia, Korea and Denmark, amongst others.  We have a strong link with the Department of Planning at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Relocation to the UK

Moving to the UK to study can seem like a daunting task but we're here to help you every step of the way.  The University's designated International Office provides valuable help and assistance for prospective international students, including information specific to students from various countries.  Staff in the department are also here to help you.

English Language Teaching Centre

Our English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) offers a wide range of English language courses and services for University students and departments, as well as the public.

Please note that applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to provide evidence of English Language proficiency at IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each component) or equivalent.

English Language Skills

You'll have the opportunity to improve your english language skills here at the department as we offer a wealth of support and guidance.  We have a dedicated English Language Tutor that offers one to one English teaching.
