EEE students deliver positive feedback in the latest National Student Survey

Electronic and Electrical Engineering students at The University of Sheffield have rated their overall satisfaction with the Department at 91% in the latest National Student Survey (NSS).

We achieved 91% student satisfaction in the 2020 NSS

This has helped the Faculty of Engineering to achieve the number one position for student satisfaction of 90% in the prestigious Russell Group, the association of leading UK research-intensive universities. The positive result places Engineering at Sheffield well above the UK sector average of 79%.

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering is committed to ensuring that our students enjoy the best experience possible during their time with us and we have introduced changes based on feedback from previous surveys as well as input from current students. We are very pleased to say that these actions have been recognised by our students and that we have achieved results we are very proud of.

We have been ranked as leaders within the Faculty of Engineering for the delivery of ‘teaching on my course’ for which we obtained 86% satisfaction and ‘learning resources’ for which we obtained 90% satisfaction.  We are in the top 2 departments within the Faculty for ‘academic support’ (81% satisfaction) and ‘student voice’ (80% satisfaction).

The NSS is purely based on the ratings by our students and we want to thank them for taking the time to complete the survey as without their feedback we cannot ensure we are meeting our students’ needs.  We recognise that this is an ongoing process and welcome feedback from our students of all levels of study throughout their time with us.

Head of Department, Professor Chee Hing Tan says ‘I am very proud that our students think so highly of our Department and we will continue to ask for, listen to and act on the feedback our students give to us.  We will also continue to seek innovation in learning and teaching from our academics. We are a welcoming, inclusive and diverse student and staff community committed to making the Electronic and Electrical Engineering experience as rewarding and enjoyable as possible.’
