Postgraduate Research 

If you choose to carry out your research with us, you will join a vibrant and energetic international community of approximately 850 postgraduate and undergraduate students. We have 46 academic/academic related staff, (including 21 professors) and 63 research staff. We also have a dedicated team of 20 technical and 23 administrative support staff.

Studying for a research degree is very rewarding. You'll be working on a project at the forefront of technology, developing solutions to tomorrow's problems. During your studies you'll be encouraged to present findings of your research at national or international conferences and to publish in leading research journals.

You can approach a member of EEE academic staff, whose research area is of particular interest, to discuss your options for entering the next stage of your career development.

There are numerous options for funding a PhD. In EEE we have students who are funded on grants, University scholarships, and those who are self-funded.

Our PhD graduates leave with highly sought after skills and find employment in all areas of electronic and electrical engineering including energy generation and distribution, electric vehicle technologies, semiconductor device fabrication, computer engineering and communications systems design. Recent employers include Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Motorola, Plessey Semiconductors and ARM.
