Sarah wins national law exam award

Sarah Cooper

A former MA student has been awarded the Johnston Press prize for achieving
the highest mark in the country for her NCTJ Court Reporting paper.

Sarah Cooper, who studied for a Broadcast Journalism MA last year, won the
award after scoring 99% in the exam.

Sarah will receive a cheque for £250 at a special awards ceremony at the
Press Association Headquarters in London later this month.

Sarah, who is currently working as a broadcast journalist at Hallam FM in
Sheffield, said: "I did not see this one coming at all - I had no idea that
this award even existed, so I was shocked to find that I had won it!"

"I want to say a massive thank you to my Law lecturer Mark Hanna, who is one
of the best teachers I have ever had. I know everyone on my course would
agree with me when I say that we all felt really prepared for those exams."

"I'm sure this year's students will be in law revision hell at this time of
year, but I hope this can go some way to reassuring them that they're in
safe hands!"
