Our research students are part of the School's wider research environment, but also form a close community of their own. All research students belong to one or more of the School's research centres, and are encouraged to take an active part in centre activities - these include a variety of seminars, workshops and conferences.

Our development programme has been designed to help you develop specialist and transferable skills which will enhance your research and your employability.

The programme is provided by the Faculty of Social Science Doctoral Training Centre, The University of Sheffield Doctoral Academy and White Rose Doctoral Training Centre.

Student Life - Celebrating PGR Day 2014

Student life

Our research students co-ordinate their own monthly research colloquia, organise the annual Postgraduate Research Day and regular social activities. For example, CrimSoc and the International Law Journal Club are student-led groups where students can share their passion for their subject.
