Richard Kirkham

Welcome from Head of School

Thank you for your interest in applying for a post in the School of Law at Sheffield.

We're currently seeking to appoint up to two criminology Professors and a Senior Lecturer on an open-ended contract, to start in September 2024 or at a later date by arrangement. The opportunities have arisen following a University strategic decision to invest in Criminology at Sheffield.

Criminology in Sheffield has a long and rich tradition at Sheffield, primarily through the Centre for Criminological Research (CCR) based in the School of Law. Our research and teaching covers a wide range of areas and approaches and we are proud of our criminology programmes: Law and Criminology (LLB), Criminology (BA), and a Masters in International Criminology. We have a lively community of PhD students and research associates, who also contribute to the life of the School, including seminars, workshops, conferences and reading groups.

I'm very happy to answer questions and to have informal discussions about these positions or the School, so please do feel free to contact me by emailing I would be also very happy to put you in contact with any of our Criminology team.

Welcome from the Centre for Criminological Research (CCR)

The Centre for Criminological Research is the focal point for criminology and criminal justice at the University of Sheffield, one of Britain's main research-led universities. The Centre includes membership from scholars from a range of disciplines and departments across the University, but most of the criminology teaching staff are located in the School of Law.

If you would like to find out more about the work of the Centre, please email either Professor Layla Skinns on (Director of CCR) or Professor Gwen Robinson on (Deputy Head of School).
