Ian Proctor, Acting Head of Student Recruitment and Marketing and Full-time MBA Programme Manager, completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 26 June to fundraise for The Children's Hospital Charity.
Ian’s aim was to raise as much as possible to help the charity deliver the funding for a world class cancer and leukaemia ward that is being built at Sheffield Children's Hospital. The hospital treats children from the UK and around the world.
The grueling challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The route comprises a 24-mile hike and a combined ascent of 1585m.
Ian who has completed other fundraising challenges at the University said, “having done the Big Walk and the Peak District Challenge each of which are 50-mile hikes, I can say that the Three Peaks Challenge was probably the toughest physical challenge I’ve done”.
“I’m overwhelmed by the support from friends and colleagues and am delighted to have achieved and exceeded my target for The Children's Hospital Charity”.
Ian, who has now raised almost £5k for charity through the three events, exceeded his initial target of £850, raising a total of £1,130 for the charity so far. Donations are still being accepted through Ian’s JustGiving page.
Congratulations Ian!
