Research interests

Akanni’s research interests are around trade unions and how technology can be used within the movement (e.g., enhancing member services and attracting younger generations of trade union members) and strengthening awareness of trends within the field. Also, to further the understanding of the drivers of and barriers to adopting digital technologies in trade unions in the Caribbean. His goal is to contribute to the overall mission and purpose of the movement; and shaping workers' policy in the Caribbean. His past and current experiences have prepared him tremendously to serve in these capacities.
