In 2021, Professor Colin Williams was appointed chief advisor on undeclared work to the Western Balkans Regional Cooperation Council for the period 2021-2022. He is organising the Western Balkan Network for Tackling Undeclared Work to enable mutual learning and collaboration between six countries (Albania, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Kosovo). This involves working intensively with the tax authorities and labour inspectorates in these six countries to modernise their strategic and operational plans. The objective is to align them with the EU to enable these countries to gain accession to the European Union from 2025 onwards.
