DLC Event " Shared Perspectives"

The DLC event was held this year in the Oasis on Tuesday 24th March between 12.30-3.00pm. It was well attended with a mixture of DLCs, administration staff, DLS tutors and two students. The theme this year was " shared perspectives" and it was a chance for teachers, coordinators and students to talk about their experiences of DLS in the last year and also to think of how we can prepare for the new year.

Highlights

A new model

Peter Stordy introduced his new model that could revolutionize DLS. The model makes attending DLS mandatory for students who fail assignments set within the department. This would then in theory mean that the students who need help are targeted. You can find more information by clicking on the following here.

Departments and ELTC sharing perspectives

Staff from departments and ELTC shared their views on the previous year and came up with some very interesting suggestions on how we can improve DLS provision. The ideas can be found by clicking here.

Student Presentations

Two students ( Jinji Wei a Postgraduate and Ahmed Al-Badi a first-year undergraduate) from the Mechanical Engineering department introduced their views on DLS including what they gain from attending and why at times attendance is low. You can see Ahmed's slides by clicking here.

Posters by DLS teachers

DLS teachers produced posters on a range of issues including feedback, student voices and motivation. You can access the posters by clicking on the appropriate link.
