Thesis Abstract:

My project will focus on representations of femininity in the political press between 1863-1925 by comparing images of the Princess of Wales and Queen Consort Alexandra of Denmark to the idea of the “New Woman”. I aim to analyse how such images intersected and interacted with contemporary ideas about femininity and how these ideas developed throughout the period.
