Arriving at the department

You will have booked to visit us 10am to 12.30pm or 2pm to 4.30pm on your offer holder day. Please arrive in good time for the start of your booked session, as we'll need to scan the QR code from your booking to register you.

Your arrival location is: 9 Mappin Street, Room G14. This room is located on the ground floor. You can view this on our interactive campus map, and there will also be lots of open day staff and ambassadors around campus to assist you.

If you arrive late for your booked session, please report to the general information stand on the Students’ Union concourse, where event staff will be able to help.

When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest at the department activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, the department will be unable to accommodate any additional unbooked visitors.

However, you're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while the department activities are running.

Activities

To start the day, you’ll be greeted in our common room by refreshments and plenty of friendly faces, as well as an introductory talk with one of our academics. This is the perfect opportunity to meet our staff as well as your future coursemates!

You’ll then have a chance to take part in three activities. This includes having a go at recording your own television bulletin in our state-of-the-art broadcast studio; taking part in an exciting press conference; and, in our ambassador Q&A session, asking current students any burning questions you may have about the course or university life.

Parents and supporters

Your guests are welcome to come to most of the activities with you so they can see our facilities in action. They will also have the chance to attend the press conference activity, get involved with the student ambassador Q&A and speak with our course leaders and senior academics, who will be on-hand to answer any queries they might have.

How to book

Please book your place on the offer holder day via the link in your invitation email.
