Scholarship awarded to SEAS student for summer school in Korea
The School of East Asian Studies is pleased to announce that BA East Asian Studies student, Wenzheng Deng has been awarded a Merit Scholarship for international students from Korea University, which enables her to study at Korea University’s International Summer Campus over the summer of 2016. The scholarship covers tuition fees for up to three courses o the summer school programme.
Wenzheng was nominated for the scholarship by Dr Judith Cherry, who will be teaching at the summer school this year.
“I majored in East Asia Studies and this is a really great chance for me to experience authentic Korean culture by myself. It will enable me to compare what I learned about Korean culture in class to what I experienced in Korea, thus it will deeper my understanding of the country and its people.
The summer programme offers different courses taught by well-known professors and lecturers from all over the world, I will be able to study courses based on my own interest and experience different teaching styles. I will study three courses which are Political Economy, International Relations in East Asia and Comparative Politics.
Outside of study, Korea University organises field trips for students and after complication of my study, I will travel with my family in Korea.”
