“After deciding to embark on a career change, The University of Sheffield was the only place I wanted to study for an MA in Social Work. It has an excellent reputation and I felt confident that the course would prepare me well for a career in this field.

"The robust application procedure meant that my classmates shared similar ambitions to me, which made for a very positive learning experience."

"The staff, both academic and administrative, have a range of skills and expertise; they have been warm, friendly and very approachable, which has really helped me to meet the demands of the course.

“Social Work is a very demanding profession but our lecturers have worked hard to build our confidence. The range of guest speakers we have had access to has highlighted what a varied and exciting sector Social Workers operate in.

"I also served as a student representative on two panels with Social Work England, which is based in Sheffield.  This was a brilliant opportunity to further increase my understanding of social work and network with other professionals.

"During my final year I was offered two jobs in Social Work and have opted to accept a role with a local authority within the South Yorkshire Teaching Partnership. I am looking forward to beginning work in October and am very excited to see how and where my career develops!”
