Postgraduate study in chemistry
As an internationally renowned chemistry department, we're committed to training the next generation of leading chemists. You can work with our world-class academics, learn the latest research techniques and make new discoveries.
Our taught MSc courses in Chemistry or Polymers for Advanced Technologies are designed to equip talented graduates for a career at the cutting edge of chemistry. Our postgraduates find careers in academia, industrial research, and a range of other disciplines from publishing to patent law, all requiring a high level of scientific understanding and expertise.
We typically recruit around 30 PhD students each year to work across our four research clusters. Funding comes from sources such as government, research councils, industry and the EU. Many grants are only open to UK and EU students but we welcome international applications supported by scholarships from the student's home government or other funders.
Centre for Doctoral Training in Polymers, Soft Matter and Colloids
Our EPSRC supported CDT has been developed to train the next generation of polymer scientists and engineers. This involves close engagement with a wide range of industrial sponsors and expands upon a conventional PhD degree with broader perspectives such as business acumen and the potential to undertake a short period of study at an overseas academic institution.
