Dominic McHugh curates exhibition on “My Fair Lady” at the Crucible
Drawing on his extensive research for his book Loverly: The Life and Times of “My Fair Lady” (Oxford University Press), Dr Dominic McHugh has put together an exhibition in the foyer of the Crucible Theatre to coincide with Sheffield Theatres’ new production of My Fair Lady this Christmas. The exhibition highlights three aspects of the show’s legacy: My Fair Lady on Broadway; My Fair Lady in London; and other productions.
Highlights of the display include a copy of the Original Broadway Cast album of the show, signed by Julie Andrews; programmes from the Broadway, London and film versions; magazines from the time of the show’s opening; and letters and documents indicating early ideas for the musical’s structure and casting. The exhibition was made possible thanks to funding from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities’s Arts Enterprise (HEIF) programme.
