Students’ performance at Dementia Care Ward reported in Sheffield NHS Trust magazine
Students from the MA in Psychology of Music performed at two musical afternoons at Grenoside Grange, a NHS dementia care ward. The performance at G1’s Got Talent was reported in Involve, the magazine of Sheffield’s NHS Trust.
Music is used on a daily basis at the ward to assist occupational therapies and musical afternoons are held monthly. Psychology of Music students interviewed staff about these uses of music, and experienced the positive effects of music during their performances. Patients danced and sang along, even those who had difficulties walking or communicated very little at a regular day.
This project was supported by Engaged Curriculum funding to Renee Timmers and Stephanie Pitts.
