BALEAP PIM: From EAP Teacher to EAP Teacher Educator

12 November 2022 at The University of Sheffield

This PIM will focus on the transition from EAP Teacher to EAP Teacher Educator. Although there is a lot of support available to those transitioning into EAP from more General English teaching, very little support is available to those EAP practitioners working or wanting to work with other teachers. Working with other teachers may involve observing on a summer school, preparing and delivering a series of workshops as part of a teacher education programme or mentoring and supporting teachers new to EAP.

This PIM will provide a space to share ideas and best practice including practical ideas, workable approaches and useful methods of working with other teachers. This event will be of interest to Senior Teachers, DOSs, Teacher Trainers and Educators and indeed anyone who works with or is planning to work with other teachers in an EAP context.

We welcome papers in a variety of formats (including 30-minute presentations with 10 minutes for Q&A, 40-minute workshops and poster presentations) relating to the theme of supporting and working with other teachers. We also welcome 20-minute recorded presentations and 40-minute, live-streamed workshops from colleagues who cannot attend the event. Presentations can be individual or joint.

The event will be delivered in-person with some plenaries and workshops live-streamed.

We welcome proposals from teachers, teacher trainers, teacher educators, lecturers and tutors who have experience of or an interest in working with or supporting EAP teachers. We are particularly interested in papers giving participants a clear takeaway which can be applied in a variety of contexts.
